Cycle Support: Jimmy

Age: 25
Weight: 88kg
Height: 179cm
Nationality: NZ

Sporting background: Crossfit, Rugby league, Various social sports.

James has participated and enjoyed sports all his life. He has participated in soccer, netball, gymnastics, Rugby, Rugby league, Hockey and cricket on various levels throughout his life. His passion for the performing arts has restricted him from playing full time sports over the last few years so his main goal has been to just participate socially and attend the gym regularly….

Sometimes goals are not always achieved and this was the case for James until November last year where he was taken onboard by Jamie (Coach J) for a 12 week programme to help get him back on track with a fit and healthy life style. Since completing his 12 weeks he has changed his life around in more ways than he ever though possible and is now training on a daily basis under Coach Jamie and really enjoys it.

Why do you want to do the MMFM run?
Well let’s just clarify one thing….I am not a runner. I am cycling support. I wanted to get onboard for a number of reasons. The first being that I want to do something for once that does not only help myself but helps others even if it is people I do not know on a personal level. I often think about ways that I can help society but usually flag the ideas due to time restraints. I decided that I would combine my own personal training with a valuable cause! Secondly I wanted to do the event to give something back to my coach and peers who helped me change my life around. I am truly grateful that these awesome people have been there to motivate and encourage me out of self esteem and potential health problems…As a support Cyclist I can be the support to the runners in hard times, I am sure there is going to be quiet a few and I am so happy to know I will be there right there encouraging them along the way as they have done for me over the past 4 months.

What are you most looking forward to?
Seeing the human body achieve something that I thought was not possible. 9 marathons in 9 days…….still blows my mind. I am also looking forward to putting myself through some pain for a fantastic reason.

Also….I can’t wait to sing some of the members an inspirational tune out on the rugged Tasmanian roads.

What are you least looking forward to?
A very very sore bottom…….70km a day on a bike must have some sort of repercussions to the backside…………….

Give one interesting fact we didn’t know about you?
I will eat anything except Moon Cakes!!
